About LPLC

HISTORY The Lincoln Park Lacrosse Club has a tradition rooted within the first lacrosse of Chicago. Formed as the second team of the Chicago Lacrosse Club, the club eventually broke off on its own. We officially became the Lincoln Park Lacrosse Club in the spring of 1980. Presently the second oldest lacrosse club in Chicago, we have consistently fielded teams of 30+ members.

MEMBERSHIP Lincoln Park Lacrosse's membership reflects the diversity of Chicago as well as the national popularity of lacrosse. The present roster includes All Americans from Division I, II, and III universities, collegiate players from states including Mass., PA., CO., NY., MD, SC, WI, as well as several graduates from local Illinois Universities. Our rosters have also included a member of the 2002 World Team, Division III Player of the year Mike O'connor from Hobart, and 3 of our members have played professional lacrosse. Our players range from 24 to 38. Beyond playing, Lincoln Park continues our involvement in lacrosse through various avenues. Five players referee youth, high school, collegiate and post collegiate games. Two players are full time high school coaches and several are part time assistants. Several players also participate as coaches in the Lacrosse America youth lacrosse programs.

ACTIVITY Lincoln Park Lacrosse competes for 9 months of the year, playing from Feb through October. Our main season is in the spring. We participate in the Midwest City Lacrosse Conference http://www.midwestlacrosse.org. Teams from six other cities, as well as four teams within Chicago play out a fifteen-week schedule to gain playoff berths for the MCLC championship. The MCLC championship is held every year in June. In addition to the MCLC, Lincoln Park participates in several off season tournaments and a full fall league. Tournaments such as the Chicago Shootout, Texas A & M Fall Classic, Dayton Wingvitational, Boilermaker Shootout and the Mardi Gras Tournament are held throughout the year. These tournaments pit Lincoln Park against the best in Midwestern lacrosse, as well as some of the nations best club lacrosse teams. These invitational tournaments draw the finest lacrosse players from across the nation, and usually gather considerable fan support. The fall league entails play against most of the local MCLC opponents in non-league matches. In addition, Lincoln Park faces off against several of the Big Ten collegiate lacrosse programs. In 1998 - 1999, LPLC played Purdue, Michigan, Minnesota, Michigan State, Northwestern, Penn State and Illinois. Lincoln Park also played Illinois State, Ball State and Marquette University. In all of these events, Lincoln Park has been competitive.
